Description

This is a HOO image shot from my backyard with almost a full moon.  I hope to get Sii tonight.  Oh, that's Sadr in the top left corner.

So I got tired of doing mosaics mainly due to a limited number of clear nights, so I recently purchased the William Optics 71GT.  While a fine triplet, built like tank, I had 3 nights of frustration.  Seems the backspace instructions for the flattener/reducer were incorrect...the last thing I tried to troubleshoot.  I'm still dealing with what I assume are tilt issues...if you pixel peep the stars in towards the corners.

My first impressions are mixed.  I am pleased with the larger real estate together with good core details; I'm pleased with how much lighter and smaller than my 102GT; it will be a great traveling scope; I'm frustrated with the initial fine tuning of my imaging train (flattener/reducer, spacers, EFW, tilt plate).  Frustrated yes, but still I enjoy the consuming thought process, research and troubleshooting.  Read that's good for our brains as we get older!    Oh I need to figure out a way to rotate the camera other than changing the adjustable back focus.
